We can not save ourselves but we can give credit to the One who can save us from ourselves.
Lord, I believe in You and trust that Your promises of grace are true.
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10

If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.” Genesis 4:7
Temptation is not a sin. Jesus was tempted many times and never sinned. Temptation often leads to sin because we often find ourselves in a sinful situation and feel guilty and therefore feel that there is no turning back. The truth is that temptation is more like a flashing "yellow" light. You can either make the right decision and turn away from sin (detour) or fall into the temptation and allow the sin to run it's course (green light). Lord, give me the strength to see temptation as a sign to detour from sin. Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God. Luke 18:42-43
How often does God bless us with something we don't ask for or how many times does God answer prayers, from small to big? If we were observant and honest, the answer would be many times each day. God is constantly present and looking out for us while also available to hear our prayers. We are unfortunately less present with God and we fail to look at how He is providing for us. We are even less likely to praise God for those things, small to big. Lord, please help me to be aware of all the ways You bless me and provide for me each day and help me to give the credit You deserve. “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
Isn't salvation for our sins enough? It seems like a pretty big deal. We receive eternity with God despite the sins we commit because Christ died on the cross. A fairly uneven deal in our favor. We get eternity and we really don't give up much. However, we tend to still question God and ask "why has xxx happened to me. Life isn't fair." God would agree. Life indeed isn't fair. He gave up His son for us and all we do is complain and want more. Lord, please help me to realize that You and Your Son are enough. |
