“You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.” Philippians 2:5
My attitude and Christ's attitude are quite different. Christ's is much better. I need to choose Christ's. Lord, help me to choose your attitude.

"Let me be me" sounds nice but "me" isn't always a good thing. Christ had the right attitude. We should "make me be more like Jesus". Lord, help me to be more aware of my attitude and adjust it when necessary. “Heaven and Earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” Matthew 24:35
It is amazing how much people remember one specific thing you say, even when you say a lot or do a lot that is to the contrary of that one thing. Unfortunately, every word matters not just the ones we want to matter. Lord, help me to watch what I say. “I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians 3:14
At the end of the day, do you measure your day by what you accomplished for yourself or what you accomplished for God? Lord, help me value and find worth and productivity be measured in what I did for You and others, and not for myself. “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.” Colossians 3:2-3
The world is mess. Thank God (literally) that this world really doesn't matter much. Lord, help me to focus on the things that matter. “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father." -- Matthew 5:13-16
When we stand for something, we are no longer anonymous and our actions matter. One misbehavior can minimize or erase years of positive behavior. Lord, help me to be more intentional about what I say and do as it all matters. |
