Every day can be New Year's Day, a new beginning, an opportunity to see the hope before us and to not be held back by our past.
Lord, thank you that I don't have to wait twelve months to start fresh and move forward.
“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” Matthew 7:24
How much of my time is spent on things that are shiny and outwardly impressive while missing out on the time required to build a firm foundation that will stand the test of time? Try pushing a car in the snow while standing on ice ... a lot of effort and no results. Lord, help me to put in the time and effort on the things that will allow me to build a more meaningful life. “All Scripture is inspired by God, and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
It amazes me how people will question the Bible and pick it apart and even be slow to follow the teaching found in it, but when @scoobielivinginmymomsbasement posts something on their phone, they have no second thoughts. Lord, help me to trust You more and realize that Your teachings have passed the test of time, over and over again. “After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God: “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!” Mark 1:14-15
My daughters are sad that Christmas Day has come and gone. We reminded them that the best gift we could ever receive can be enjoyed every day of the year. Lord, thank you for the reminder that Christmas Day brings and help the reminder to last more than 24 hours. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Because of his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.” 1 Peter 1:3-4
Amen “Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!” 2 Corinthians 9:15
Let me tell you about THE BEST gift I ever received ... do you have a lifetime to hear about it because it has taken be a lifetime to fully realize how great a gift it has been. Lord, thank you for Jesus! “Therefore, with your minds ready for action, be sober-minded and set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” 1 Peter 1:13
When we are NOT sober, our mind is distracted and unclear. Sober-minded refers to being undistracted and clear minded on what is important and what matters ... Jesus. Lord, in a world that is increasingly distracting, help me to set safeguards in place to keep me clear minded and focused on what matters. “When they saw the star, they were overwhelmed with joy.” Matthew 2:10
Are you more excited for: 1) A break from school/work? 2) A specific gift? 3) Celebrating the birth of Jesus! Lord, help me to remember why Christmas is CHRISTmas! “Don’t let anyone despise your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12
Who is watching you and what do they see? There are a lot of good reasons to do the right things and behave appropriately. Not only will it benefit ourselves, it will help lead others to do the right things and to behave appropriately and there is never a downside to that. Lord, others are watching and although I may not think that it is a big deal, the truth is that it is one of the biggest deals and I need help to do better at being more aware. “Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:23-24
Life was super boring and unproductive prior to America's Funniest Home Videos. No one did anything meaningful. Then came video cameras and then any fall or accident was miraculously captured on video tape for all to see. We all laughed so life was no longer boring, just unproductive. Thankfully, life is much more productive and people are able to do more and accomplish greater things because NOW EVERYONE CAN SEE IT AND "LIKE IT". Lord, help me to "perform" for the audience of One! |
