Less waiting and more doing!
Lord, help me to have courage to keep doing.
“We have been created to create.” Ephesians 2:10
Less waiting and more doing! Lord, help me to have courage to keep doing.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty? It’s no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled under peoples feet. You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a basket, but rather on the lampstand, and it gives light for all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16
Many complain about being "useless" or they feel that they "have no purpose." There is a simple solution to this issue. We have all been given a purpose and that purpose is crystal clear and told to us by God. It is now up to us to DO IT! If you don't feel useful, then make yourself useful. Lord, thank you that I have a purpose and not help me to live it out. "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:11-13
We don't need to be lost. God is always searching for us. Lord, thank You that I never need to be aimlessly wandering unless I choose to. “May integrity and honesty protect me, for I put my hope in you.” Psalms 25:21
There are a lot of reasons for lying or for not telling the truth or for not being completely honest. One primary reason is "self-preservation". In other words, we lie to protect ourselves, more specifically to protect our view of ourselves or how others view us. If we truly believed that God's opinion of us is more important and valuable than what others think about us, we wouldn't see the value in lying. Lord, help me to put my hope in You. “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22
At the beginning of the day, our goal should be to be "doers" and not just "be-ers". At the end of the day, we need to look back and be honest with ourselves and evaluate whether we missed opportunities to take action when we should. Lord, help me to be intentional about being a doer. "If I say: I won’t mention Him or speak any longer in His name, His message becomes a fire burning in my heart, shut up in my bones. I become tired of holding it in, and I cannot prevail." Jeremiah 20:9
We talk about all kinds of stuff and all kinds of people. We often talk a lot about ourselves. God is worth talking about the most. Lord, help my passion for You to be so great that I can't help but talk about You. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
Yes, I said it. However, God said it better. Don't blame others for your lack of courage. You don't have an excuse. God has equipped you. Lord, help me to realize that You have given me everything I need. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
We need to tell people about Jesus. However, that doesn't only refer to telling "new" people about Jesus. Often times we read this verse and become intimidated. We are too shy or fearful of sharing Jesus with others. This verse doesn't only refer to sharing Jesus with people who don't know Jesus. It also refers to reminding those around us of who Jesus is and what He means to us. Lord, help me to be bold in lovingly sharing about how You and I related today. "Be imitators of me, as I also am of Christ." 1 Corinthians 11:1
Christ is our ultimate and primary Role Model and we have the extremely crucial responsibility to model to those around us. Lord, help me to be a more accurate model of You. “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13
Temptation is an opportunity to make the right choice. Temptation isn't bad. Temptation is a flashing yellow light and a loud siren that warns us to slow down and be careful and make a wise decision. Lord, thank you for the warning sign of temptation so I can choose to do what is right. |
