There are a lot of reasons for lying or for not telling the truth or for not being completely honest. One primary reason is "self-preservation". In other words, we lie to protect ourselves, more specifically to protect our view of ourselves or how others view us. If we truly believed that God's opinion of us is more important and valuable than what others think about us, we wouldn't see the value in lying.
Lord, help me to put my hope in You.
