“The tempter came to him and said, ‘If You are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.’ He answered, ‘It is written: ‘Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:3-4
Temptation gets a bad rap (bad reputation). Temptation is not inherently negative. Being tempted doesn't make you a bad person. Being tempted simply makes you a person. Everyone is tempted ... even Jesus. So if Jesus can be tempted and He never sinned, then you can be too. Temptation is not wrong. Temptation is a flashing yellow light that says, "WARNING!! WARNING!!" Now it is our decision to follow through with the temptation or to run the other way. Temptation is 'AN OPPORTUNITY TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT!" Instead of feeling that a temptation is bad and you are bad, see temptation as an opportunity for growth by making the decision to do what is right.
Lord, give me the strength to see temptation as what it is, an natural part of life and an opportunity to prove that I have control of my thought and actions in response to temptation.
