It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1
Many people feel that following Christ is restrictive. “The Bible is full of do’s and don’ts and mostly ‘don’ts’. God doesn’t want you to have any fun”. This is very short sited. The areas of our life that God directs us away from our natural inclinations are areas in our lives that are most destructive and God is trying to protect us from ourselves. By following our own urges, we end up being trapped by the problems that arise from those behaviors. By following Christ, we avoid results that cause us to be slaves to those results.
Lord, thank you that you love me so much that you will protect me from myself.
