What the heck is a phylacteries? A phylactery is a small leather box containing Hebrew texts, worn by Jewish men at morning prayer as a reminder to keep the law. Some wore larger than needed ones to attempt to demonstrate how great they are. Having a large phylactery is like having a large following on social media. It has no real value and it really doesn't matter to anyone but it makes you feel more special.
Lord, help me to realize what matters most and that promoting myself will only result in emptiness and have no eternal value.
