I have spent a lot of time in my life finding people who are inferior to me so that I can feel good about myself in comparison. Life is too short to surround myself with hard working and talented people who may push me and force me out of my comfort zone to be better. Life is a lot simpler if I can sit around and point out other people's flaws and overestimate my own ability. Being mediocre around others who are even more mediocre is a good and safe way to spend my limited days on this planet.
Lord, help me to realize that You sent Jesus for many reasons and one being that we would have a higher standard than ourselves and others around us so that we can strive to reach our full potential.
