Commands are given to people when they won't necessarily act on their own accord. Suggestions are often ignored. Commands must be acted on or punishment will follow. God often commands us to do things that we will not typically do on our own. When given a choice, we would rather complain or whine or "huddle in a corner rocking back and forth mumbling or crying" than make the choice to be strong and courageous, to not be afraid or discouraged. It isn't because we don't want to be strong, but because it is unnatural for us to (1) choose the more difficult option, (2) believe in our ability/gifts that God has given to us, and (3) admit we can't do it on our own and need help from God.
Lord, help me to be strong and courageous and to not simply see your commands as suggestions that I can ignore.
