We are scared of the dark because we can't see what is out there. When we sit alone in a well lit room, we tend to not have fear. But turn off the lights and we wonder if the Boogieman is out there. The only difference is the absence of light. Nothing else changed. Unfortunately, the same is true in our lives. We trust what we can see with our own eyes but as soon as we can't "see" something, we become afraid. And we probably should be afraid because we are relying on our own ability and understanding instead of trusting God.
Lord, I am often "in the dark" so please help me to trust you more than simply trying to rely on my own ability.
