We all want hope. We all want peace. We all want joy. We all need to trust.
Lord, if I really desire peace, joy and hope, then please help me to desire to trust more.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 NIV

"Master," Simon replied, "we've worked hard all night long and caught nothing! But at Your word, I'll let down the nets." Luke 5:5
God has given us talents. We need to work hard and use those talents. However, we also need to realize that God can provide and He WILL provide us with everything we need ... not everything we want but everything we need. But we must trust and be obedient to what he commands. Lord, thank you for providing for all of my needs. "And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." - Philippians 1:6
In a time of cancelling and ending and closing, God is not ready to cancel, end or close. Lord, thank you that you aren't done with me yet! “There’s a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish—but what are they for so many?” John 6:9
We often limit ourselves. We don't give ourselves enough credit and we definitely don't give God enough credit for what he can do through us. We have a great capacity. We often underestimate our full potential. God can do great things through us and He has equipped us. Lord, thank you that I have worth and ability. “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” Matthew 7:24-27
It is never a question of "if" but "when". The rain is coming. It always rains. But sometimes a storm will come that we can't imagine. Everyone experiences rain and storms. We all experience our own unique weather systems throughout our entire lives. We can't fear the rain. We can't avoid the storm. We must be prepared. Lord, help me to be prepared for the storm that is coming, if it isn't here already. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation; old things have passed away, and look, new things have come.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17
We spend a lot of time regretting or holding on to the past or worrying about the future. We should not forget about the past, as to not repeat the mistakes of the past (someone smarter than me said that one time). We should also look ahead to the future with hope and optimism, instead of fear or pessimism. Lord, help me to learn from the past but look favorably on the future. “She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.” Proverbs 31:17
The voice in our head should to be more positive. We must be more intentional about how we speak to ourselves. And when we can't manage that positive talk, we must allow God to speak positively to us. Lord, thank you for believing in me when I don't believe in myself. They do everything to be observed by others. . . . The greatest among you will be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted. Matthew 23:5, 11-12
Most humans are not very successful at keeping their "good deeds" secret. It is difficult to not "brag" or share the good things we do for others. It isn't horrible to share what we are doing for others as it may help encourage others to serve as well. However, if the point of sharing is simply to shower praise on ourselves, then keeping "secrets" in this case, may be the best behavior. As is the case most often in our life, what is our purpose in sharing what we do for others: to glorify us or to glorify God. Lord, help me to be more mindful about who I am giving attention to when I do good deeds. “All the prophets testify about Him that through His name everyone who believes in Him will receive forgiveness of sins.” Acts 10:43
Forgiveness is a gift that has been given to us. Lord, help me to forgive and to receive forgiveness. "Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it." 1 Corinthians 9:24
Step One: Choose to run. Step Two: Choose to run to win! Lord, help me to not only choose but to choose to put in my complete effort. |
