Learning is a fundamental part of life. We must learn or we will not survive. However, learning is not fun. Follow a student around for a few hours and some form of complaining will arise from the requirements associated with learning. "I have to write a paper" is a more common phrase than "I am pumped, I have so much homework I get to do." Spend a couple minutes with anyone and when failure occurs, the notion of learning from that failure is a distant second to the frustration from not being perfect. Failure is as much of a fundamental part of life as learning but learning only occurs if we choose to learn from our failures. "Do not look where you fell, but rather where you slipped."
