You aren't special if you want to be good at something. You become exceptional when you make the difficult choices that force you to fail and then, after failing, push through that failure to go much beyond what you THOUGHT you could do, and actually achieve what you are truly capable of achieving. “To uncover your true potential you must first find your own limits and then you have to have the courage to blow past them.” Picabo Street

If you want someone to believe in you, you need to believe in yourself first. I am not going to invest my money in a company when the owner says, "I don't know, we may make some money but it is hard and others are better so, ya, hopefully we make some money and you don't waste your money on me and the business". Believe in yourself and then others will believe in you. Wait for others to believe in you first, and you may end up waiting a long time and NO ONE, not even your loving grandmother, is going to follow you around all day saying, "YOU CAN DO IT?". “Some people say I have attitude – maybe I do…but I think you have to. You have to believe in yourself when no one else does – that makes you a winner right there. ” Venus Williams
Are you a hard worker? What is the evidence? If you were in front of a judge and had to prove your case, could you do it? “The highest compliment that you can pay me is to say that I work hard every day, that I never dog it.” Wayne Gretzky
How you think will impact how you act and how you act will impact your ultimate result. Unfortunately, most people avoid what they "hate" or steer away from what makes them uncomfortable or the things that are inconvenient, and that is why they most likely live with regret when their older self looks back and their younger self and see all of the times they didn't push through and lean in. To be a "Champion", you must think like a Champion! “I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.’” Muhammad Ali
Patience is one thing. Procrastination is another. When we complete a task that must be done, it allows us the freedom to either move on to another task or it frees up time to do something we enjoy without the obligation of a task hanging over us. Life is full of burdens that add up and take an emotional toll on us. Being intentional more often and procrastinating less often will eliminate undue distress and increase not only our productivity but our overall quality of life. “Procrastination is one of the most common and deadliest of diseases and its toll on success and happiness is heavy.” Wayne Gretzky
“There may be people that have more talent than you, but there’s no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do.” Derek Jeter
We often get stuck on "Plan A". Often times "Plan A" doesn't work or honestly, won't work. Failure of "Plan A" doesn't mean that "Plan B" or "C" or "D" or "G" won't work and possibly work better and produce a better result than the original plan. Regardless of the success or failure of any plan, it shouldn't have an impact on all of the various other separate and unrelated plans you may have. “Do not let what you can not do interfere with what you can do.” John Wooden
Feelings are overrated. If I only did what I "feel" like doing, I wouldn't get out of bed most days and I definitely wouldn't be around people 99% of the time. If everyone functioned by feeling, nothing would ever get accomplished and those who function by feeling would not have anyone to take care of them. “You can’t get much done in life if you only work on the days when you feel good.” Jerry West
Resilience! Perseverance! Grit! Coping! Mental Toughness! Determination! Tenacity! Intentional Fortitude! Guts! It doesn't matter which word you choose, but it does matter whether or not you have it and choose to use it. Nothing is more important in life than the ability to overcome adversity! However, in order to overcome adversity, we must realize two important truths: (1) Failure is a fact of life that will never be avoided and (2) The inability to see failure as a step toward success and that dealing with failure is a skill that we must continually practice by dealing with failure often. If you feel inferior or unaccomplished, then get off social media (which is a lie that only posts successes and never failures .. unless the failure brings positive attention like "epic fails") Read a book or have a conversation with a real human being. Everyone is flawed. Successful people are often more flawed than others. The difference is that successful people learn from failure and it makes them better. “I’ve failed over & over & over again in my life & that is why I succeed.” Michael Jordan
“What do you do with a mistake: recognize it, admit it, learn from it, forget it.” Dean Smith
