"It Is What It ..."

My least favorite overused and misused phrase in the world is "It is what it is" (My second least favorite by the way is when people use the word "literally" when they are speaking "figuratively".)  Regardless of the amount of distain that I have for the "It is what it is" phrase, it does apply to a lot of situations we face in life.  The world is what it is and unfortunately it isn't the way we would prefer it to be. However, the phrase is incomplete.  We must deal in the realities of the "here and now" and not be paralyzed by our expectations or desires.  "Deal with the world the way it is, not the way you wish it was."  John Chambers
