"Life's most persistent and urgent question is 'What are you doing for others?" Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
There is a difference between being "responsible" and being "self-absorbed". There are things in life that we must own and be responsible for. Tasks, actions, behaviors. Clean up after yourself and do your homework. We can't rely on others to take care of our "stuff". However, ONLY focusing on ourselves and what we are doing and what we are thinking and what issues we have or are dealing with is a dangerous cycle that leads to frustration, negativity, self-loathing and depression. Helping others. Serving others. Putting others first should also be one of our top responsibilities that will help us to be more balanced and keep us from being too absorbed in our own thoughts and issues. When you find yourself in a place where "life isn't going well", make the choice to make someone else's life better and the payoff will be that two people benefit from your actions.
