Parenting is difficult. Especially when the kids are really little. Crying, whining, complaining, wanting, not sleeping, and flat out not doing what you want them to do. Parenting is difficult but it is interesting how parents feel that they don't have any control. If we stop and think, WE ARE THE ADULT. We have more control over the situation than we think we do. The child actually relies on us and is dependent on us. We can actually make decisions and choices to help manage the child's behavior. The same is extremely true about our own brains. Our thoughts are not in control of who we are and what we do. We are not preprogrammed robots who must follow every "command". We have been given the ability to choose our thoughts. We need to be the "adult in the room" for our own brains to manage our thoughts and emotions. "The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another." William James
