If you want to accomplish something, you first need to believe that it is possible. People can believe in you but if you don't believe in yourself, then your possibilities are limited. Unfortunately, it doesn't take much these days to be considered "good" or to receive praise for accomplishments because, quite honestly, the bar is really low. The truth is that there are more people who are lazy and quitters than there are people who are attempting to reach their full potential. The problem with the low bar is it leads us to believe that we are good, when in fact, we are simply better than a bunch of lazy, incompetent people who lack any motivation or resilience. It is crucial that our bar is not simply others around us unless we choose to be around exceptional people. “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” Babe Ruth

Sitting around is easier than getting up and moving. Doing something productive is harder than doing something fun. Succeeding is more enjoyable/fulfilling than underachieving. All three statements are true. Everyone loses motivation. It is impossible to be motivated all of the time. We are not a bad person because we lose motivation. We are simply a person. Now that we know that losing motivation doesn't disqualify us from life, we need to find out what will motivate us. Motivation refers to "moving" us away from a behavior or thought or feeling that we don't want and "moving" toward a more desirable thought, feeling or behavior. What moves you? What has value enough to get you to move? Money? Prestige? Acknowledgement? Love? Or simply the desire to be better than you are right now. “People often say that motivation doesn’t last.
