It's not the load that breaks you down, it's the way you carry it that does." Lou Holtz

"Working Hard" does not always mean "doing more". It often means, "doing different", "doing better", "being uncomfortable", "sacrificing" and/or "being resilient". “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” Tim Notke
"Answer these questions often: What are you doing? Why are you doing it? Where is it going?" Jed McKenna
If you don't like where you are in life ... work harder! “Some may have more talent than you, but there is no excuse for anyone working harder than you do.” – John Tavares
January 2nd rolls around and the plan you had for the New Year may have already been blown out of the water. It doesn't have to be that way. One setback shouldn't cause you to throw your plan away. Two critical elements of planning are the concepts of "flexibility" and "adaptability". Successful plans must consider unexpected and undesirable obstacles. Very few plans in life go perfectly as they were conceived. When making your "Plan A", we must consider all of the possible challenges that the plan may face while also being prepared for unforeseen factors. Living life under the assumption that you will never encounter problems is like a boxer assuming that they will never get punched in the face by their opponent. “Everybody’s got plans… until they get hit.” Mike Tyson We shouldn't be surprised when we get "hit in the face" by life. In fact, we should prepare for a pummeling and then respond accordingly.
Millions of people are starting today anew and have made "resolutions" and "goals" that are meant to make them better. Many will bail in the coming HOURS (if they haven't already), because it is too difficult and their expectations are not met. Grit can be defined as "Devoting maximum effort over an extended period of time while under constant downward pressure and force" Brian Kelley, Notre Dame Head FB Coach. Millions of people will NOT demonstrate grit in the coming hours, days, weeks, months or years. Most unfortunately believe that if it doesn't happen NOW, it isn't worth doing. Those people will always underachieve. "Every person is enthusiastic at times. One person has an enthusiasm for 30 minutes; another person has it for 30 days, but it is the person who has it for 30 years who makes a success in life." Edward Butler George
