"I don't feel good today". We have all heard it or said it or at least thought it. The harsh reality of life is that "the world doesn't care how you feel". The earth keeps spinning and if we think the world will stop for us to get our stuff together, we are fooling ourselves. Feelings aren't bad and "feeling" doesn't make us a bad person. However, allowing feelings to dictate or worse, control our day will inhibit our productivity and our pursuit of any goals we may have. You can't get much done in life if you only work on the days when you feel good. Jerry West

When we aren't able to do something, we can whine about it or we can practice. We can choose to train and be trained or sit around and be untrained. I choose trained!

Procrastination is an emotional response. Procrastination occurs when we delay or avoid doing something that needs to be done. Procrastination is often a TRAUMA RESPONSE. Procrastination may occur when certain parts of a traumatic memory that has not been processed fully are unconsciously triggered. We procrastinate as a defense mechanism to avoid triggering negative feelings and emotions. We may not be able to understand why we put things off, or why we have a strong emotional response to being asked to do something. Procrastination is real. Now that we know what it is, we can control our emotions and move on from our past and create new experiences and memories that are positive and motivating.
Success takes effort. When we say that someone "makes it look effortless", we are devaluing all of the time and effort and sacrifice that was devoted to that successful result. Success takes a ton of effort. Effortless Perfection: “The expectation that one would be smart, accomplished, fit, beautiful, and popular, and that all of this would happen without visible effort.” Duke Women's Initiative Report
"Nobody wants to show you the hours and hours of becoming. They'd rather show the highlight of what they've become." Angela Duckworth If we aren't having success, we should not look at what we are doing or not doing well, but we must look at what we are avoiding. "The magic you're looking for is in the work you're avoiding" Joseph Campbell
We are born with talent. We can maximize our relative talent but the honest truth is that some people are just more naturally talented in some areas than others (listen to me sing and my point is proven). EFFORT is something that we all have control over and EFFORT is what truly maximizes our talent. When we put in more EFFORT than what others are willing to invest, then we surpass those with more natural talent. Make the choice to put in more EFFORT than what is comfortable. “Without hustle, talent will only carry you so far.” ―Gary Vaynerchuk
Happiness and Sadness are emotions. And emotions are determined by our circumstances. When things don't go our way, we are often sad. In contrast, when we are blessed with something that we enjoy, the result is happiness. Emotions occur but our attitude is a choice. We choose to have an attitude of gratefulness and joy and compassion and grace and love and thankfulness. We can either allow our circumstances to dictate our day or we can choose the proper attitude to have during our day. "I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions." Stephen Covey
