Don't stop when you are tired. Stop when you are DONE! This quote is not attributed to one person but is attributed to anyone who has ever been successful throughout human history!

Every human has a state of being that is comfortable to them. Comfortable clothes, food, people, places, activities, relationships, subject matter, hobbies, vocations, habits and routines. We tend to wake up every morning with the goal of seeking as much comfort as possible and avoiding as much discomfort as we are able. Conflict avoidance and avoiding risks and failure become the norm. Unfortunately, success or reaching our full potential REQUIRES taking risks and being willing to fail and to be as uncomfortable as we can force ourselves to be. Seeking comfort is fine if we don't want much out of life. Embracing discomfort and the benefits that it brings will move us closer to our full potential. “Do one thing every day that scares you.” Eleanor Roosevelt
Humans are easily distracted. Distraction can be nice sometimes. However, distractions are ... distracting. When we focus too much on the negative, we prevent ourselves from seeing the positive. And the more we focus on the negative, the harder it is to pull our eyes (and mind) away from the negative to see anything positive at all. It is our choice to whether we choose to look for the positive instead of dwelling on the negative. “When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.” Helen Keller

Unfortunately, when that time comes, we often see ourselves as inferior and ill-equipped. The only way to gain confidence in slaying dragons is to take every opportunity to slay a dragon when that time arrives. The bigger the dragon the better. When YOUR chance arrives to slay a dragon, what will you do? “Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.” Neil Gaiman
Calm waters are boring and actually require a lot more work to get anywhere if we are in a sail boat. Wind is required for us to move more efficiently. And when there is wind, there is always the potential of storms. We need to quit being surprised with natural things happen. Instead, we need to be prepared and deal with them. "I am not afraid of storms for I am learning how to sail my ship.” Louise May Alcott
"One important key to success is self-confidence. An important key to self-confidence is preparation." Arthur Ashe
One of the most important ways to PREPARE for anything is to PREPARE your brain to handle the challenges you may face. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. It is unrealistic to expect to be completely prepared for every situation. However, it is realistic to PREPARE our minds for the possible emotions and feelings that we may encounter. Doubt, fear, insecurity, anxiety are all potential speedbumps that we should prepare for. "Successful people have fear, successful people have doubts, and successful people have worries. They just don't let these feelings stop them." -T. Harv Eker In athletics, as well as every aspect of life where success is measured in some way, the "It Factor" comes up often. That person has "It". What is "It"? It is a very tangible thing. It is not something that you are necessarily born with or require great wealth to acquire. It allows us to focus our energy on what we desire to accomplish and does not cause us to waste time on meaningless and invaluable garbage. It helps us to focus on others and not ourselves, which then maximizes our own success. It is invaluable but costs absolutely nothing, other than the ability to trust and believe. "It" is simply this ... self-confidence. When we have high degrees of self-confidence, success is limitless.
“If we all did the things we are capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.” –Thomas Edison “Anyone who ever gave you confidence, you owe them a lot.” –Truman Capote “It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.” –Edmund Hillary |
