“No discipline seems enjoyable at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11
Discipline is not punishment. Punishment refers to "taking away". Criminals are punished with fines or imprisonment or both. Children are punished with spankings or time outs or neither (and that is why we have so many criminals). Discipline refers to "training" or "teaching" improper behavior by taking something away. God doesn't hate us, just like parents don't hate their kids. God loves us and wants us to LEARN from our errors and failures so that our lives have MORE, not less.
Lord, help me to learn better and faster, so I don't require as much "training".
