Unfortunately, Americans have a misconception in regards to the relationship between "Freedom" and "Independence". The two terms tend to be linked due to the "freedom" acquired through the "independence" from English rule. Freedom is not necessarily the same and independence. In fact, as Christians, God grants us freedom from sin through Christ but that requires us to be dependent on Christ.
Lord, thank You for freedom, in all senses of the word, but help me to not misinterpret that freedom to mean that I can be independent from You, because I am a mess left on my own.
