Criticism is not necessarily corrective and correction is not criticism. Criticism involves pointing out the flaws in something. Food critics will criticize food. Movie critics will criticize movies. Criticism is simply the expression or acknowledgement of something that someone did wrong or you disagree with. People often try to justify criticism by labeling it "constructive criticism". Criticism is only constructive if someone receiving it finds it constructive, which 99.9% of the time they do not. The only one who feels it is constructive is the criticizer ... so STOP DOING IT. Correction, on the other hand, involves an extra step that criticism doesn't. Correction gives instruction on HOW TO FIX THE FLAW OR MISTAKE. In other words, don't just point out others flaws and mistakes. Show love and caring by taking time to help them fix them.
Lord, thank You that You don't simply criticize me but You take the time to correct me!
