We are unfortunately conditioned at a young age to dislike our competition. In sports, coaches sometimes goes as far to say "you need to hate the other team" in order to beat them. The truth is that without a competitor, we can't have a competition. Without someone to play against, we play by ourselves. Without the opportunity to compete, we can't test our selves, challenge ourselves or bring the best out of ourselves so that we can learn and grow. Being competitive does not require hating your competitor. We need competition and we need to appreciate our competitors.
Lord, help me to see others less as competition and more as a helpful tool to make not only me better but others as well.
