Step 1: Do LESS selfishness.
Step 2: Consider others MORE important.
Warning: Don't misinterpret Step 2 as meaning that we should consider ourselves as being LESS. We should simply consider other as being MORE.

Lord, I can't do this on my own as it is impossible so please give me the strength to do it.

Lord, help me to stay in my lane and not continue to peek over at my opponent. Help me to run my own race and let them run theirs.

We are still us but we now have the opportunity and support to be a better version of us.

Lord, thank You for choosing me and for giving me the tools and please help me to step up to my potential.

Very few humans experience incarceration. Unfortunately, we all find times that we are prisoners to ourselves. We are captive to fear and doubt and insecurity and jealousy and low self-esteem and low self-worth. We are imprisoned to our own sins or the abuses by others in our past. We are bound by fear and anxiety about the future.

Lord, help me to realize that You have freed me.

Trouble with the car? Washer is leaking in the laundry room? Dog pooped on the carpet? Coworker is a problem at work? A family member said something that upsets you?

Lord, thank You for the blessing of owning a car, for being able to live in a house, for having the company of a dog, for providing a job that provides for the car, house and dog, and for family, because when I feel that family is a problem, I need to remember those without a family.

Talent More!

“The point is this: The person who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the person who sows generously will also reap generously.” 2 Corinthians 9:6

The point is this: God has given you a ton of talents and gifts. Don't waste them. Don't be scared to use your gifts and talents. God gave them to you to be used and not to be held on to or wasted.

Lord, thank You for ALL that I have and give me the strength and courage to use them to their fullest.

Not Yet!

“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart be courageous. Wait for the Lord.” Psalm 27:14

1) "Wait" is interchangeable in the Bible with the word "Trust".
2) In order to truly "Trust God", we must "Wait for God to get around to the right time".
3) A "No" right now is not really a "No forever", it is often a "Not Yet".
4) We are more likely to Trust God more when we Wait for His perfect timing instead of getting all worked up when things don't happen right now.

Lord, help me to wait for You, which shows my trust in Your plan, and please help me to not be so caught up in My plan.

... You are Boring!

“Look I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19

I have three older brothers and I was 3 years younger than my closest brother in age, which was an eternity when you are a kid. I used to complain to my parents, "I am bored". My dad's loving response, "You are bored because YOU are boring. Go out and be less boring". That hurt, but that was accurate. I was boring. I was waiting around for stuff to happen. God never waits around. God is not boring.

Lord, when I am "bored" or find myself in a place I don't want to be, help me do something new or see what new You have for me.

Availability!

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who will I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me.” Isaiah 6:8

The best type of ability in the world is availability! Most of us have plans and expectations and unfortunately, we don’t leave open time for other things that may be more important, like God’s plans and God’s expectations.

Lord, help me to be more available for You as I know You are always available to me.

“For you were called to be free, brothers and sisters; only don’t use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love. For the whole law is fulfilled in one statement: Love your neighbor as yourself. But if you bite and devour one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another.” Galatians 5:13-15

Lord, help me to love others.
