Identity Complexity!

“Now this is what the Lord says—the one who created you, Jacob, and the one who formed you, Israel—‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine.’” Isaiah 43:1

Unfortunately, many struggle with identity. "Who am I?". A lot of mental health and insecurity and therapy revolves around this question of "Who am I?". I am sure you have heard it before, but the better question to ask is "Who's am I?". And the answer is simple and that makes life a lot less confusing.

Lord, thank You for choosing me and that my TRUE identity is in you.

Calling?!

“He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.” 2 Timothy 1:9

28 years ago, I had a an older and much wiser new friend in my office and he was telling me about a new job offer that he was contemplating on taking or whether he was going to stay in his current position. As a "holy" person and someone who loves Jesus, I asked a typical "holy" question in this scenario "What do you feel God is telling you to do?" My new friend paused and stated, "That is a stupid question. God doesn't care where I work. God only cares that I take him with me to wherever I work." I learned one of the most important lessons in my life that day and has made my life and my decisions much easier ever since.

Lord, help me focus more on having You with me than on any task I may do.

Purpose-Full!

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

Whether you want to believe it or not, we all have a purpose. The problem is that we waste more time trying to figure out what our purpose is, when we should be spending our time living into our purpose. If we wake up each morning with the mindset and the "heart set" to LOVE GOD and LOVE OTHERS, we will fulfill our purpose, and be FULL OF PURPOSE, no matter what the actual purpose may be.

Lord, help today be as purposeful as it should be.

Coachable?!

“Make your ways known to me, Lord; teach me your paths. Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; I wait for you all day long.” – Psalm 25:4-5

Parents want obedient children. Employers want receptive employees. Teachers want teachable students. Coaches want coachable athletes. God doesn't ask for much but He does want what is best for us and He knows He knows what that is.

Lord, help me to be the type of child, student, etc that I want others to be to me and that You want me to be for You!

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven is theirs.” Matthew 5:3

When you see someone in need, do you drop everything to stop and help them? Maybe you do and maybe you don't. But God always does!

Lord, thank You that You are never too busy or annoyed or reluctant to help me, especially in my weakest moments.

What Will IT Be Today?!

“Then Jesus told him, ‘Go away, Satan! For it is written: Worship the Lord your God, and serve only Him.’” Matthew 4:10

It is always interesting to realize what ends up being what we serve today instead of Jesus first.

Lord, sorry and help me! and thanks for forgiveness and grace!

TEAM!

“Now all the believers were together and held all things in common.” Acts 2:44

Life is a TEAM sport. Faith is meant to be a TEAM sport. We aren't in it alone. We can't do it alone. The bigger your TEAM, the better.

Lord, help me to surround myself by others who know and love You and for those around me that don't yet, help me to share You with them.

We Can't On our Own!

we “…no one can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison.” James 3:8

No one? Really? I knew a guy one time ... well maybe not. The fact is that God has given us many gifts and talents. However, we are not perfect and are sinners. We need help. God is there, not only to "tame our tongue" but to help us in ALL the areas that we fall short.

Lord, help me!

I don't Know!

“When arrogance comes, disgrace follows, but with humility comes wisdom.” Proverbs 11:2

Some would say that "I Love You" are the three most important words. Others would say, "I need help" are very important. "Yes I can" is also a popular one. "I don't know" is my favorite.

Lord, I don't know everything and that is ok, because others know stuff that I don't and You know everything.

Tomorrow is Today but later!

“Give us today our daily bread.” Matthew 6:11

We spend a lot of time thinking about tomorrow. That is a good habit. Preparation is good. We spend a lot of time WORRYING about tomorrow. Worry does nothing except make us feel bad. We must find a way to think about tomorrow and also pray about tomorrow and also pray that God will give us what we need today, and then wait and do that again tomorrow.

Lord, every day is a new day and I ask for Your help to think about today and then also help me tomorrow when tomorrow comes.
