"So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.” Matthew 7:24
Listening is different than hearing and doing is essential after listening. Lord, help me to not only hear but listen and then give me the courage to DO! “For as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body—so also is Christ.” 1 Corinthians 12:12
My mother-in-law cut off the tips of two fingers in a lawn mower accident about ten years ago. You would never know until it comes time for her to clasp a necklace or open a jar of peanut butter. Even the tips of two fingers matter. Lord, help me to remain part of the body so that the body functions fully. "This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: 'In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.'" Isaiah 30:15
Why is it that we resist the things that are in our best interest? Lord, help me to be more wise and less stubborn. "For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” Isaiah 43:19
Few like to be placed in a new situation and not know how to proceed. The good news is that God is with us and He isn't bothered by "new". Lord, thank you for always helping me. "There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven…” Ecclesiastes 3:1
The answer is not always "No". Often times it is "Not Yet". We need to be able to be content with "Not Yet" and wait for it to be a "Yes" later. Lord, help me to be patient. "Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.’” Isaiah 41:10
... or better yet, trust in your God! Dogs are fine but we need to rely on a comforting God and not a comfort animal. Lord, help me to realize that You don't want me to be afraid or discouraged. |
